RESUMO

Abscess wound caused by bacterial infection is usually difficult to heal, thus greatly affect people's quality of life. In this study, a biodegradable drug-loaded microneedle patch (MN) is designed for targeted eradication of S. aureus infection and repair of abscess wound. Firstly, the bacterial responsive composite nanoparticle (Ce6@GNP-Van) with a size of about 182.6 nm is constructed by loading the photosensitizer Ce6 into gelatin nanoparticle (GNP) and coupling vancomycin (Van), which can specifically target S. aureus and effectively shield the phototoxicity of photosensitizer during delivery. When Ce6@GNP-Van is targeted and enriched in the infected regions, the gelatinase secreted by the bacteria can degrade GNP in situ and release Ce6, which can kill the bacteria by generating ROS under laser irradiation. In vivo experiments show that the microneedle is basically degraded in 10 min after inserting into skin, and the abscess wound is completely healed within 13 d after applying Ce6@GNP-Van-loaded MN patch to the abscess wound of the bacterial infected mice with laser irradiation, which can simultaneously achieve the eradication of biofilm and subsequent wound healing cascade activation, showing excellent synergistic antibacterial effect. In conclusion, this work establishes a synergistic treatment strategy to facilitate the repair of chronic abscess wound.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Thirty-day readmission is one of the common complications after lumbar surgery. More 30-day readmission increases the total hospitalization, economic burden, and physical pain of patients, delays the progress of postoperative rehabilitation, and even lead to die. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the risk factors of 30-day readmission following lumbar surgery. METHODS: We searched for all the clinical trials published from the establishment of the database to May 1, 2022 through the Cochrane Library, Web of Science, Embase, and PubMed. Data including age, American Society of Anesthesiology physical status class, preoperative hematocrit (Hct), diabetes mellitus (DM), current smoker, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), length of hospital stay (LHS), operation time, and surgical site infection (SSI) were extracted. We used Review Manager 5.4 for data analysis. RESULTS: Six studies with 30,989 participants were eligible for this meta-analysis. The analysis revealed that there were statistically significant differences in the age (95% confidence interval [CI]: -3.35-2.90, P < 0.001), preoperative Hct (95% CI: 0.75-1.33, P < 0.001), DM (95% CI: 0.56-0.74, P < 0.001), COPD (95% CI: 0.38-0.58, P < 0.001), operation time (95% CI: -35.54-16.18, P < 0.001), LHS (95% CI: -0.54-0.50, P < 0.001), and SSI (95% CI: 0.02-0.03, P < 0.001) between no readmission and readmission groups. In terms of the American Society of Anesthesiology physical status class and current smoker, there was no significant effect on the 30-day readmission (P = 0.16 and P = 0.35 respectively). CONCLUSIONS: Age, preoperative Hct, DM, COPD, operation time, LHS, and SSI are the danger factors of 30-day readmission following lumbar surgery.

RESUMO

As an important water purification and seepage measure for sponge cities, biofiltration systems have been widely used in their construction in China. In order to identify the heavy metal accumulation, pollution, and its potential environmental risk in the biofiltration systems, this study examined the heavy metal contents and spatial distribution characteristics by taking the biofiltration systems of Yuelai new town, Chongqing, the first demonstration area of sponge city construction in China, as the research object, and conducted a risk evaluation of the pollution level and ecological environment in this new town using the contamination factor (CF), geo-accumulation Index (Igeo), and potential ecological risk coefficient (PERC). The results showed that, except for Mn, the average contents of Cu, Zn, Pb, Ni, and Cd in the biofiltration systems of Yuelai new town were 4.14, 1.77, 4.98, 1.23, and 6.51 times higher than the soil background values of Chongqing. In terms of spatial distribution, the contents of heavy metals in biofiltration systems along the roads in different functional areas showed great differences. The contents of Cu, Zn, Mn, Pb, Ni, and Cd in the industrial area were significantly higher than those of the same types of heavy metals in the biofiltration systems in other areas (P<0.05). The CF and Igeo showed that the pollution level of heavy metals was ranked as follows:Mn

RESUMO

At present, COVID-19 is raging all over the world. Many comorbidities, such as diabetes mellitus (OR = 2.67, 95% CI = 1.91-3.74) and hypertension (OR = 2.3, 95% CI = 1.76-3.00), have been shown to worsen the patient's condition. However, whether cardio-cerebrovascular disease will affect COVID-19 remains unclear. In this meta-analysis, we collected studies from PubMed, Wed of Science and CNKI (Chinese) to July 25, which reported COVID-19 patients with and without cardio-cerebrovascular disease as well as their severity and mortality. The random-effect model meta-analysis was used to analyze them and get overall odds ratios (OR) with 95% CIs. Funnel plots and the Begg's and Egger's test were used to assess publication bias. Thirty-one studies with 23,632 patients were finally included in the meta-analysis. The results showed an OR of 3.004 (95% CI = 2.097-4.303) for COVID-19 severity and an OR of 5.587 (95% CI = 2.810-11.112) for COVID-19 mortality. Compared with cardiovascular disease, the subgroup analysis indicated that cerebrovascular disease was more likely to increase the severity (OR = 3.400, 95% CI = 1.569-7.368) and mortality (OR = 23.477, 95% CI = 3.050-180.735) of COVID-19. Therefore, it can be inferred that cardio-cerebrovascular disease is associated with an increase in the risk of severe illness and death among COVID-19 patients. This meta-analysis showed that cardio-cerebrovascular disease has a significant relation with severe and death outcomes of COVID-19. Nurses should pay special attention to COVID-19 patients with the cardio-cerebrovascular disease.

RESUMO

A new isoflavone derivative compound 1 (psoralenone) was isolated from soybean inoculated with a marine fungus Aspergillus terreus C23-3, together with seven known compounds including isoflavones 2-6, butyrolactone I (7) and blumenol A (8). Their structures were elucidated by MS, NMR, and ECD. Psoralenone displayed moderate in vitro anti-inflammatory activity in the LPS-induced RAW264.7 cell model. Compound 2 (genistein) showed moderate acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitory activity whereas compounds 2, 5 (biochanin A), 6 (psoralenol), and 7 exhibited potent larvicidal activity against brine shrimp. Compounds 3 (daidzein), 4 (4'-hydroxy-6,7-dimethoxyisoflavone), and 5-7 showed broad-spectrum anti-microbial activity, and compound 7 also showed moderate 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free radical scavenging activity.

RESUMO

Butyrolactone-I (ZB5-1) from the coral-derived fungus Aspergillus terreus was investigated in this study to estimate its anti-neuroinflammatory effects on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced BV-2 microglia cells. MTT assay indicated that ZB5-1 in tested concentrations had no cytotoxicity on BV-2 cells, and significantly reduced the production of nitric oxide (NO), measured using Griess reagent, and interleukin-1 beta (IL-1ß), detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). ZB5-1 also down-regulated the expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) in a dose-dependent manner by Western blot analysis. Moreover, the effect of ZB5-1 on the nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) signaling pathway was studied via the expression of phosphorylation of NF-κB p65 and inhibitor of NF-κB (IκB), and the nuclear translocation of NF-κB p65 respectively. The results showed that ZB5-1 could inhibit the phosphorylation of p65 and IκB. Furthermore, molecular docking study suggested that ZB5-1 bound at the active sites of NF-κB to prevent its translocation to the nucleus. Therefore, we suggest ZB5-1 has a potential to reduce the anti-inflammatory response in LPS-induced BV-2 cells.

RESUMO

The aim of the study was to explore the coping strategy and the effects of self-efficacy of Chinese undergraduate nursing students when they face the stress in clinical practice. Convenience sampling was used to recruit undergraduate nursing students in Mainland China who have practiced 3 months in hospitals in their final college year. Self-report questionnaires including demographics, Perceived Stress Scale, coping behaviour inventory and Generalized Self-Efficacy Scale were collected. The results showed that during clinical practice, assignments and workload were the most common stress to students; transference was the most frequently used coping strategy by students. Self-efficacy not only had a positive main effect in predicting the frequency of use of staying optimistic and problem solving strategies but also moderated the effects of stress from taking care of patients on transference strategy, as well as stress from assignments and workload on problem solving strategy. It is essential to bolster the students' self-efficacy to reduce stress and adopt positively the coping strategies during clinical practice.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To study the immunoloregulation effect of three polysaccharides OGI, OG2and OG3 extracted from Octopus dollfusi muscle, gonad, digestive gland, respectively. METHODS: Spleen cell proliferation was measured by MTT assay and index of immune organs were weighed and calculated. RESULTS: OGI and OG2 could increase the proliferation of mouse spleen cell of normal mice, and significantly increased the proliferation of the spleen of immunosuppression mice caused by sccyclophosphamide, while showed no cooperation with ConA; OG3 appeared suppression for the two spleens. The three polysaccharides could increase index of immune organs of normal mice and remarkably increased the indexof immunosuppression mice caused by sccyclophosphamide ; while showed obvious function on thymus index. CONCLUSION: These results suggest that OG1 and OG2 have enhancement immunity for normal and immunosuppression mice, and have better effect for the latter;OG3 has suppression proliferation the spleen cell in vitro, however it has better effect for increase index of immune organs in vivo.
